Engaging the leather and footwear industry for ZDHC Programme in South Asia

We will be hosting a South Asia Regional Virtual Event on 17 and 18 February 2021 for the leather tanneries and footwear Supplier facilities in India and Bangladesh. The event is also open to chemical suppliers to the leather industry and brands. The purpose of the event is to create awareness about the ZDHC Programme in the leather sector in the South Asia region, especially on the ZDHC MRSL V2.0, Performance InCheck Guidelines, ZDHC CMS Framework and the newly published Leather Wastewater Guidelines Addendum.

On 17 February, live sessions are planned where experts from the leather industry as well as ZDHC team members will participate in presentations and panel discussions. The tentative topics that will be covered are:

1. Overview of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme in terms of Input, Process, Output Focus Areas, with information on ZDHC MRSL V2.0 implementation, Performance InCheck Guidelines, CMS Framework and Leather Wastewater Guidelines;
2. Panel discussion to share practical experiences & challenges in implementing the ZDHC Programme, with experts from a tannery, brand and solution provider providing their perspectives;
3. Conversation with industry associations on the need for sustainable chemistry in leather manufacturing
4. Panel discussion on Innovations in sustainable chemistry for the leather sector, with experts from a tannery, academic institution and chemical companies providing latest developments in safe processes
5. Overview of Supplier to Zero Platform, ZDHC Gateway and the ZDHC Academy, including special emphasis on the training module on chemical management for tanneries.
