In our recent article, When the Roadmap Evolves, Learning Must Follow, we explored why the continued evolution of the ZDHC Roadmap to Zero Programme requires a corresponding evolution in industry learning.
As chemical management expectations become more structured and data-driven, suppliers need not only access to guidance and tools, but also the knowledge and skills to apply them effectively.
Building on that thinking, the ZDHC Academy is updating its training offering.
New training courses are now available on the ZDHC Academy, delivered by ZDHC Approved Training Providers (ATPs). These courses aim to strengthen chemical management capability across the supply chain and support suppliers in implementing the principles of the ZDHC Suppliers Roadmap to Zero.
Strengthening the Foundation: Chemical Management Fundamentals
For those beginning their learning journey, the Academy now offers Chemical Management Fundamentals courses.
These courses introduce key concepts that form the foundation of responsible chemical management, including:
- Globally Harmonised System (GHS)
- Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- ZDHC Manufacturing Restricted Substances List (MRSL)
Understanding these topics is essential for anyone involved in chemical handling, compliance, and environmental performance within manufacturing facilities.
Available courses can be explored here.
Deepening Knowledge: Chemical Management Courses Aligned with the Suppliers Roadmap to Zero
For intermediate and advanced learners, the Academy now provides chemical management trainings aligned with different broad supplier groups.
These courses are based on the framework outlined in the ZDHC Suppliers Roadmap to Zero, covering the key stages of chemical management:
Each course is designed for specific supplier types:
- Chemical Management for Textile and Leather Assemblers
- Chemical Management for Textile and Leather Processors
- Chemical Management for Footwear Manufacturers
Learners are encouraged to review the target audience description for each course to determine which training is most relevant to their operations. It is crucial that learners enrol in the course that is designed towards their facility.

Delivered by ZDHC Approved Training Providers
All courses are delivered by ZDHC Approved Training Providers (ATPs), ensuring consistent and high-quality training aligned with ZDHC guidance and programme requirements.
ATPs have already begun scheduling training sessions, and additional sessions are expected to be added in the coming weeks.
Learners are encouraged to regularly check the ZDHC Academy for new course dates and opportunities to participate.
Continuing the Learning Journey
Building effective chemical management systems requires continuous capability development across the industry.
By expanding the ZDHC Academy training offering, we aim to support suppliers at different stages of their journey, from foundational knowledge to more advanced implementation aligned with the Suppliers Roadmap to Zero.
Because when the Roadmap evolves, learning must evolve with it and now, that learning is available in practice.
