🔍 Boosting Transparency: QR Codes Coming Soon to the ZDHC Gateway

October 30, 2025

Update!

Following our earlier announcement, we’re pleased to share more details about the upcoming QR code feature on the ZDHC Gateway, along with step-by-step guidance and FAQs now available in the Knowledge Base.

Starting from next week, formulators will be able to generate and download QR codes for their published chemical products directly from the Gateway. These QR codes can be printed on product barrels or packaging, making it easier for suppliers and other stakeholders to instantly access key product information.

📦 What’s changing?

Formulators can soon create QR codes for any of their published products on the Gateway. Each QR code links directly to verified product data and can be downloaded in just a few clicks.

When a supplier scans a QR code, they’ll immediately see:

  • Product Name, PID, Status, Expiration Date, and Last Updated Date

  • ZDHC MRSL Conformance Level and Chemicals to Zero Level

  • Substrate, Use Category, and Use Type

If a product’s certification has expired, the QR code page will clearly display this status. From that same page, suppliers can request re-certification, and the formulator will be automatically notified through the ZDHC Gateway.

🚀 Why use QR Codes?

For Formulators:

  • Enhance visibility: Products with QR codes are instantly recognisable and easy to verify.
  • Build trust: Demonstrate a commitment to transparency and product compliance.
  • Save time: Simplify communication and product identification in the supply chain.

For Suppliers:

  • Instant verification: Check ZDHC MRSL conformance upon delivery.
  • Quick access to details: View key product data in one scan, even without logging in.
  • Easier compliance management: Identify and confirm valid products quickly.

🔽 Available from the week of 3 November 2025

The QR code download option will be accessible via the Products page on the ZDHC Gateway. Formulators will be able to download a QR code from a single published product’s page or in bulk:

  1. Select multiple or all published products.
  2. Click Download → Download QR Code.
  3. Receive an instant zip file download or a background download with notification for a larger file.
  4. You can then print the codes and apply them to your product packaging.

🔮 What’s Next?

This update builds on ZDHC’s ongoing efforts to strengthen product transparency, digital traceability, and efficiency on the Gateway.

In future developments, QR codes may connect directly to InCheck Reports, allowing faster inventory uploads, simplified on-site verification, and seamless data links between products and supplier performance.

While the use of QR codes remains optional, ZDHC encourages all formulators to start implementing them to make chemical information more accessible, transparent, and trusted across the industry.
