The ZDHC MRSL Submission Platform

February 10, 2020

Launched and publicly available

Following the recent launch of the ZDHC MRSL V2.0, the ZDHC MRSL Submission Platform is now available for use. This platform gives the industry, as well as the general public, a channel to propose new substances for addition to the ZDHC MRSL.

Submissions made via the platform will be considered for the next ZDHC MRSL update*. A transparent process and clear set of standards will also ensure the objective evaluation of chemicals. They were created by an independent MRSL Council (MC), which makes the final decisions on substances and limit values.

“The channels are always open for any stakeholder to provide objective, scientific evidence to support a request for chemical restrictions”

Phil Patterson, Chair of the MRSL Council (MC)

The Submission Platform offers an easy way to contribute to the ZDHC MRSL, while incorporating important measures to ensure the transparency and consistency of any updates. To protect data integrity, users are given a set of clear instructions, via a link to the ZDHC MRSL Update Principles and Procedures. This important document describes the information required to successfully submit a proposed new substance to be considered for inclusion in the ZDHC MRSL. It also outlines the process for doing so.

ZDHC Programme Director, Scott Echols, notes how the Submission Platform adds value for the entire industry. “The release of the ZDHC MRSL Submission Platform is an exciting milestone for the Roadmap to Zero Programme. It will allow people to submit their suggestions for additions to the ZDHC MRSL quickly and easily. Transparency and continuous improvement towards reducing the use of harmful chemicals in fashion are central to the mission of the Roadmap to Zero Programme. This platform will provide a transparent mechanism for chemical substances to be added to the ZDHC MRSL.”

To help users get started, ZDHC is providing an online demonstration, which offers a step-by-step guide to adding substances or amending information on the Submission Platform. To access this demonstration click here.
