ZDHC Presents 2030 Strategy at International Footwear Events
Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam — On July 8, 2024, the Confederation of International Footwear Association (CIFA) organized the 41st International Footwear Conference (IFC) in HCMC, Vietnam. This prestigious event brought together leather and footwear associations from 16 countries to discuss the current state and future development of the footwear industry.
Dr. Andy Chen, ZDHC’s Footwear Engagement Director, took the stage to present the ZDHC 2030 strategy and goals. His presentation, titled “How to Reduce Toxic Chemical Emissions for Footwear Production,” outlined ZDHC's vision for a more sustainable footwear industry. Dr. Chen emphasized the critical role of reducing chemical emissions in manufacturing processes and highlighted the benefits for both the environment and human health.
Following this, from July 10-12, 2024, the 24th International Shoes & Leather Exhibition - Vietnam (Shoes & Leather - Vietnam) was held at the Saigon Exhibition & Convention Center (SECC) in Ho Chi Minh City. This event, one of the most comprehensive expos for the footwear and leather industries, attracted thousands of stakeholders, including representatives from brands, factories, suppliers, formulators, and machinery manufacturers.
On July 10, 2024, Dr. Andy Chen continued his engagement with the industry by presenting a follow-up session titled “How Does a Footwear Factory Implement the ZDHC Program to Reduce Toxic Chemical Emissions.” He stressed the importance of chemical management through the lens of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) concepts. Dr. Chen’s message resonated deeply with the audience, leading to numerous questions and discussions on actionable steps for implementing sustainable practices.
